Croton Republican Committee

Greg Schmidt
Mayoral Candidate

Greg, his wife Susan, and their two children, Margaret (Age 16) and Ben (Age 18) have lived in Croton for 18 years.  He is a local chiropractor with his office located in Croton's Upper Village.

He has shown his concern for the environment by serving as a member of Croton's Trails and Parking Lot Committees and is a Board member of the Croton Caring Committee, which supports Croton's frail and elderly.

Greg has been passionately involved in Croton's community affairs since moving to the Village. He has been a steadfast member of Croton's Chamber of Commerce, serving as its President for several years before successfully integrating it with the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber (HVGC).  He is still a HVGC Board Member and continues to head the Croton Business Council.  With the Chamber's aid, Greg helped organize and run various Croton events including Summerfest, Winterfest, and the Holiday decoration program.

Greg is also a proud member and past President of the Croton Rotary.  He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow, the highest honor granted to members for service to Rotary and the community.  Croton Rotary hosts the annual Car Show and the Stanley Kellerhouse Scholarship Dinner.  Although the Rotary is an international organization, Croton's Rotary contributes money and assistance to local groups and residents.  It has made significant contributions to the Croton Library, Croton Food Bank, Croton Caring Committee, and Croton schools as well as international assistance to countries in time of need or natural disaster.  The Stanley Kellerhouse Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Croton high school students.

Greg has been a Croton Village Trustee since being elected to this post in 2002 and is serving his second term.  He enjoys representing Croton residents and solving their concerns.  As a business person, he understands that a successful business is "customer oriented".  He believes that government should reflect this standard and provide the best services to its customers...the taxpayers.

As a Village Trustee, Greg has the unique position of hearing and understanding the concerns of both residents and businesspersons because he not only lives in the Village, he works here also!  This special relationship allows him to truly represent both parties at Village Board meetings.

His official duties also require that he serve as liaison to various Croton committees and groups, and to work closely with Croton's Recreation Advisory Board to restructure recreation  fees and help develop a mission statement to guide recreation activities.

Greg is running for Mayor because he feels that Village officials need to focus more on Croton's issues than Regional concerns.  He and his running mates feel that the current administration are too involved with concerns outside the Village.  This team is a staunch defender of Croton's residents and want to concentrate their time and efforts on Croton's residential and business such as controlling rising taxes and improving the infrastructure especially the elimination of "brown water" from Village water mains.  Greg is deeply concerned about Croton's safety and  will continue to address speeding problems.  He and his running mates are prepared to "walk the talk" to achieve their goal of making Croton a better place to live.
